Creating Moments of Magic,
because from the beginning of the day to the end,
it’s really all about you.
Melanie grew up in a small country town in the North Island of New Zealand with a love of the outdoors, horses, music and reading. She learnt to sew from her mother at a young age, so by the time she was 12 was more than capable of making her own clothes. Those pieces that still fitted (some a little shorter) she was still wearing many years later. Fascinated with beautiful fabrics, at 19 years old with a roll of white satin and 5m of lace, from the spare room made her first small collection of wedding dresses. Inspired by her love of sewing and creating beautiful garments, Melanie takes great enjoyment in turning simple pieces of fine fabric and laces into gorgeous wedding gowns.
“Seeing a bride on her wedding day in my handcrafted gown is very emotional and gives me a great sense of honour that I was able to help make that dream come true”.
And so the doors of Melanie Jayne were opened.
Melanie specialised in bridal couture in NZ and has dressed many brides and their attendants. When Melanie and her family migrated to the sunny shores of Australia in 2004, she brought her skills and expertise to Coffs Harbour. She established her own bridal boutique with dreams that her daughters may one day play their part in the art form of bridal couture. Melanie continues to design & create beautiful wedding gowns for brides from all over Australia made from fine silks, satins, exquisite laces and intricate beading. Always designing her gowns to suit the personality and shape of the wearer. Delicately moulded around the body, and paying great attention to the final fit.
Kimmie the middle daughter of Melanie Jayne, born in New Zealand and growing up under her mother's sewing desk, always had an eye for fashion. One day at the age of 8, she put together some outfits consisting of roughly hand sewn satin and lace tops with matching skirts for her younger sister and cousin. The girls wore these to town that afternoon to visit the boutique, and Kimmie was not far behind beaming from ear to ear. She was so proud of her handiwork that day and since then she has grown to love working with the fine fabrics and sparkles that adorn the bridal gown.
Kimmie went on to study Applied Fashion Design & Technology. She has now joined with Melanie Jayne, bringing her valuable skills in concept drawing, pattern making, fashion illustration and fine hand finishing of garments, to compliment Melanie Jayne’s designs.
“Together we can create the dream gown that is irresistible to any bride.”
Kimmie creates heirloom veils made from the softest of imported tulle and natural gemstones and pearls. Matching hairpieces and accessories are also designed to blend with the bride's attire.
Brides are offered a full personal service in Melanie Jayne’s boutique, which is located in the picturesque Promenade Shopping Centre in Coffs Harbour NSW Australia.
Emma is Melanie's youngest daughter, and is the beautiful model in many of our bridal gowns images. Born in New Zealand, but raised in Australia, Emma has a love for adventure and the great outdoors. Growing up in a family where learning to sew was compulsory, she has excelled in dressmaking and design. Her sewing skills are valuable to the Melanie Jayne label, preferring to be behind the scenes in the design studio where all the Magic Happens.
